WHAT'S ON BOB'S MIND?

Hello Ollie Lovers!

Today is Mother's Day- May 9th.  Bring Mom to Ollie's
and she get's 25% off her treat.

It was very busy last month @ Ollie's.
We served over 500 kids & helpers at
The Special Kids event
@ the polo field on April 23rd. This is our 7th year participating
in this GREAT event.

The Daily Sun published a story on my Scoop School the
same day. I think everyone in The Villages mush have read it-I have
never had so many people comment on a story written
about me or Ollie's. I had 2 students in from Houston, Texas
for 3 days of training @ the store. They own a large candy
factory & 2 stores, they make some of The BEST candy I've
ever tasted. The name of their place is Kegg's Candy &
we will be featuring 1 of their best on May 17th. Their
Pecan Crisp will be served as our Flavor of the day.
I've personally sampled this already and it's the most
addicting stuff I've ever ate. I even called Carl -the
owner and told him he needs to put a WARNING label
on every package of it. In addition to serving it that
day we have about 20 packages of it for sale. We
also will have some of their brochures available @
KEGG'S CANDY DAY on the 17th of this month
@ Ollie's if you wish to order some of their other
treats or if you can't wait till then see their website
@ Keggscandy.com.

Due to the story in the paper we did have longer then
usual lines in the store for the next 5 days and we even
ran out of custard on Monday night-that's why we had
to switched to Caramel Cashew till friday and served
MUD PIE on Monday. Sorry for the problem and Thanks for your
patience. We have the BEST customers in The World!

The next day we took our mobile cart to The Relay for Life at
the Villages High School. This year we joined The Villages
Cheerleaders Team. We were there for two and 1/2 hours
and sold out all of the 12 gallons of custard we brought.
We donated $150 to The American Cancer Society and
left around sunset. I'm sorry we ran out so fast-I promise
to bring more next year-Thanks to all our customers I met
there. This is our 5th year at this GREAT event.

If you have an event you would like our mobile cart to appear
at-please call bob @ 259.3568. We will donate
a percentage of our sales back to the group sponsoring the event.

The next event we appeared at last month was @
St. Theresa's
church in Bellview. We were there on Saturday for their
1st annual garage & craft sale. It was a beautiful day and the
church earned some much needed funds for their GREAT
work in the community. We will be @ their FALL Festival
later in the year.

Our cart will be at Del Webb @ Spruce Creek for their
annual 4th of JULY parade & Nathan's Hot Dog picnic.
We Love to attend this Event every Year!

We now have a page on Face Book-here is the link

next time your at the store, then ask for it on a sundae, as
a topping with a bowl of your favorite Ollie's flavor or in
an Arctic Blast. Maryjo & Gary-both Villages resident invented
this NEW product and are about ready to launch it nationwide.
Here's your chance to try it before the rest of American does.
If you liked to make S'mores growing up- then you'll love this!

Due to popular demand we are serving Caramel Cashew

You asked for it & you got it.

DID YOU KNOW?

** Memorial Day, originally called Decoration Day, is a day
of remembrance for those who have died in our nation's service.
There are many stories as to its actual beginnings, with over
two dozen cities and towns laying claim to being the birthplace
of Memorial Day. While Waterloo N.Y. was officially declared
the birthplace of Memorial Day by President Lyndon Johnson in
May 1966, it's difficult to prove conclusively the origins of
the day. It is more likely that it had many separate beginnings;
each of those towns and every planned or spontaneous gathering
of people to honor the war dead in the 1860's tapped into the
general human need to honor our dead, each contributed honorably
to the growing movement that culminated in it being officially
proclaimed in May 1868 by General John Logan, national commander
of the Grand Army of the Republic.

** The early European umbrellas were made of wood or whalebone
and covered with alpaca or oiled canvas

** Bratwurst is a very common type of sausage in the USA. Though
originally brought to North America by German immigrants, it
is a common sight at summer cookouts, right alongside the famous
hot dog. The Bratwurst was popularized in Sheboygan County,
Wisconsin in the 1920s.

** The first pulsar (a celestial object that emits brief,
sharp pulses of radio waves instead of the steady radiation
associated with other natural sources), discovered in 1967,
never varies in its timing by even as much as a
hundred-millionth of a second. Its pulse is registered
every 1.33730109 seconds.

** The breed of the Thoroughbred horse is only about 300 years
old, although horse racing has been popular in England since
Roman times, and can be traced back to Central Asia among
prehistoric nomads.

** George Washington once said, "My mother was the most beautiful
woman I ever saw. All I am I owe to my mother. I attribute all
my success in life to the moral, intellectual and physical
education I received from her."

OLLIE'S SILLIES

A rookie police officer was assigned to ride in a cruiser
with an experienced partner. A call came over the car's radio
telling them to disperse some people who were loitering.

The officers drove to the street and observed a small crowd
standing on a corner. The rookie rolled down his window
and said, "Let's get off the corner."

No one moved, so he barked again, "Let's get off the corner!"
Intimidated, the group of people began to leave, casting
puzzled glances in his direction. Proud of his first official
act, the young policeman turned to his partner and asked,
"Well, how did I do?"

"Pretty good," replied the veteran, "especially since this
was a bus stop."
